The places we live can help persuade our sense of style, and junior Zach Kizer can attest to that. He can attribute his love of comfortable style to his upbringings in the Pacific Northwest. “People just want to be comfortable over there,” he explains. “Back home people wear Birkenstocks, Tevas, corduroy, and sweaters way more often, it’s more laid back over there.” However, today you wouldn’t see Zach sporting Birkenstocks or corduroy in New York. He describes his style as functional yet fashionable, “button down shirts are a staple of mine, they are just something that looks nice and is easy to throw on as I am running late to class.” He is currently wearing a red flannel with a beige sweater, paired with white Converse, blue Levis, and his Herschel All American blue canvas backpack.

Zach enjoys shopping at multiple stores but mainly visits Urban Outfitters. However, as a college student looking to save money, he looks towards a thrift store called Buffalo Exchange, “they curate a really awesome selection of clothes,” he praises. Buffalo Exchange is a retailer that buys and sells used clothing with 49 stores across 17 states. Zach explains that finding items at Buffalo Exchange can be very exciting because they’re one of a kind. New York City is known for its trendsetting style, and Zach enjoys incorporating that into his shopping and searching for those obscure items. Overall Zach believes, “it’s fun to balance NY style and Oregon comfort.”
